For the treatment of dandruff or scalp dermatitis, follow the instructions of the manufacturer or use as directed by your doctor. Wet the scalp and massage the medication to the wet scalp. Leave on your scalp for 2-3 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Some brands may need a second application. Check your product package to see if a repeat application is required for your brand. Be sure to rinse your hair and scalp well with water after each application, especially on bleached, tinted, or permeated hair. Selsun Selenium Sulfide 2.5 shampoo is usually used 1 or 2 times a week to treat dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, or less frequently to maintain control of dandruff.

Tinea Capitis

Guidelines On the Application

Apply selenium sulfide to the affected skin for the treatment of tinea versicolor. Lather with a little bit of water. Allow to remain on your skin for 10 minutes. After each use, rinse your skin thoroughly with water. If the medication affects the genital area or the skin folds, rinse the area well with water for a few minutes to prevent irritation. This medicine is usually used once daily for 7 days to treat tinea versicolor, or as directed by your doctor.

Wash your hands thoroughly after the use of shampoo. Do not leave this medicine on your hair, scalp, or skin for a longer period of time or use it more often than directed. Your condition will not clear up faster, but the side effects may increase.

If your condition worsens or does not improve, tell your doctor or pharmacist forthwith.
